Once again the festival of color Holi comes near. It is one the oldest and vibrant festival of India. It is celebrated in starting of spring after the winter and it is the remark of victory of good over bad. On this day there is a traditional custom of Holika Dahan which is similar to a bonfire. On Holi, everyone celebrated with joy and happiness by colored each other. Everyone wants to color first to other, there is a color fight with one another and everyone says when color some is Bura naa mano Holi h. This festival is filled with love, joy, colors and so much fun. Holi is celebrated in a different part of a country with different types of celebration with so much love and joy. Let's have look at different types of Holi celebration across the nation.

#1 Lathmar Holi

Lathmar Holi is celebrated in the Uttar Pradesh like Vrindavan and Vrindavan, Barsana and Nandgaon. People of Uttar Pradesh believe that when Lord Krishna was come to Vrindavan to play Holi with Radha then village of women hitting with the lathis and chase him away. So as per tradition the women of Vrindavan hitting and chase the men with a lathi and the men protect yourself with Dhali or shield.and sing the Holi song to attract the women's.


#2 Khadi Holi

Khadi Holi is celebrated in Kumaon part of Uttarakhand. The people of Kumaon wear traditional clothes and playing music and express his feeling by dancing. The group of peoples or toils wishes the people by colored them and by distributing the sweets. In Uttarakhand, Holi is celebrated in many forms like khadi Holi, Mahila Holi, Batika Holi.

#3 Basant Utsav and Dol Jatra

In West Bengal, Holi is celebrated as the Basant Utsav and Dol Jatra. Basant Utsav is the festival of onset of spring is celebrated in Shantiniketan in Bolpur. On this day the boys and women wear a yellow color dress because Basant color is the color of abundance and also playing with the colors. Besides playing with a color they also celebrate with dance, music, poetry and other programs.
Dhol Jatra is celebrated next day where the procession of Lord Krishna is taking on the streets with the music, joy and playing with color.

#4 Dola

In Odisha, the Dola Holi is celebrated and it is quite the same to the West Bengal. The festival is celebrated because of Jagannath also known as Dolagobinda. On Holi, the people of Odisha take out the procession of Lord Jagannath on the streets of towns and cities with the music, joy and playing color with the loved ones.

#5 Phaguwa

In Bihar, Holi is celebrated as Phaguwa.On Holi, the people burn the Holika and it is like a bonfire and the women come to see the Holika Dahan and pray. This practice is done in many parts of the country and it is the symbol of win of good on bad. After the next day, people play with the color with one another and also drink the bhang.

#6 Shigmo

Spring festival is celebrated in Goa and it is known as Shigmo. On this day the people wear the yellow dress and celebrated with traditional folk dance, take procession of god on the street, giving the street performance and play with the colors.

#7 Yaosang

In manipur Holi or Yaosang is celebrated till a one week. The people of Yaosang celebrate the Holi with full of energy and joy and no one celebrates like them. They celebrate by burning a hut which is made of twigs and hay, performing the traditional dance, take the procession of a lord, worshipping of Lord Krishna and playing with the colors.

#8 Hola Mohalla

Hola Mohalla or Holi is celebrated in Punjab after the next day of Holi. It is celebrated because of the bravery of Sikh warriors and they are known as Nihang Sikhs. The celebration of hola mohalla with showing the martial arts, dance performance, and music.

#9 Manjal kuli or ukuli

Holi is celebrated in Kerala in the way of Manjal kuli or Ukuli. Holi is not much popular in Kerala but the Konkani and Kudumbi communities celebrate the Holi traditionally. The people of Kerala did not play the Holi with Gulal and color powder, they play with the turmeric powder

#10 Rang Panchami or Shimoga

Rang Panchami or Shimga celebrated in Maharashtra in the form of Holi. Sigma is celebrated on the day of Holi in which they do the the tradition practices Holika Dahan and do the worship. The next day they celebrate rang Panchami by playing with the colors.
